The Cregagh Primary School football team had an amazing time at the Breda Academy football tournament at the Olympia Football Stadium on Friday. This annual competition involved 13 different primary schools this year.
Our team won every single game played during the group stages, and only conceded one goal(a penalty) and ended up group winners with 15 points. Being top of the group gave us a bye to the semi-final. The semi-final was a hard fought game against Donegall Road Primary School which we ended up winning to set us up for a final against one of our group competitors - Orangefield Primary School.
The final was a very difficult match with chances for both sides. It ended 0-0 and had to go to penalties. Up stepped our pre-selected penalty takers to calmly dispatch their three penalties. For the final kick of the tournament Orangefield PS had the last penalty. Our keeper, also the keeper of the tournament, went the correct direction and excellently saved the penalty to make Cregagh Primary School the cup winners of the Breda Academy football tournament.
